What is the Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students at Andaman and Nicobar?

Department of Social Welfare and the Andaman and Nicobar Administration together has initiated the Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students at Andaman and Nicobar. The aim of the scholarship is to provide financial help to students belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. Through this opportunity, the students can pursue higher education after Class 10.

Benefits of this Scholarship Program

All the selected students will get an annual academic allowance worth up to Rs 20000. Parents of the children can use the scholarship funds to pay the student’s tuition fees and buy stationery items related to studies. All these e forts will help the students concentrate on their studies without thinking of anything else. Even the parents will now be able to pay the fees without compromising on their student’s future. Altogether, it will build a sense of independence and pride in the students and help them contribute their best to their parent’s income. The country’s growth and literacy rate will also get a substantial boost. Every student will now be able to study after the 10th standard and pursue courses in which they are Interested.

Eligibility Critera for applying to Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students at Andaman and Nicobar

Candidates must follow the given eligibility criteria. Please read them carefully to avoid non-selection.

  1. The candidate should have an Indian Residency.
  2. Applicants must belong to an Other Backward Classes (OBC) section.
  3. Students must have a domicile in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
  4. They should be pursuing post-matriculate or post-secondary courses from a recognised university, school or college.
  5. Candidate must have already passed higher secondary or matriculation or any higher examinations recognised by the Board of Secondary Education or University.
  6. Applicant’s parent’s annual income must not be above ₹2,50,000.

Documents Required:

The list of documents required for this scholarship is as follows:

  • A valid caste certificate.
  • The caste certificate must be signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO) above the rank of Tehsildar.
  • A passport-size photo of the candidate.
  • The income certificate of the parent or guardian
  • A receipt under acknowledgement of the scholarship in the previous year.
  • Attested photocopies of academic marksheets, certificates, degrees and diploma courses.

Selection Critera of the Candidate

The selection of the eligible candidate will be based on the fulfilment of the Eligibility critera stated above.

Rules and Conditions of the Scholarship Program

  1. Scholarships will be based on the candidate’s satisfactory conduct and progress.
  2. The scholarship is provided to study in the Indian States only.
  3. Applicants must fill out the online form accurately with precise details.
  4. The income certificates are mandatory during the admission process.
  5. Only two male children can apply for scholarships.
  6. There is no limitation for females.
  7. Students pursuing technical certificates, degree programs, diplomas and recognised professional courses are eligible.
  8. Candidates must not change or shuffle between courses.
  9. No subsequent failure is acceptable except for group 1 courses
  10. However, students can enrol in any post-secondary courses, including diploma, graduate, postgraduate degree, intermediate, long-term vocational training certificate and senior-secondary courses from recognised institutes.

The universities or institutes must be calculated into these nine categories:

  1. Recognised schools/colleges for Class 11 and 12
  2. Colleges under Vocational Training Institutes affiliated with the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT).
  3. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the National Medical Commission (NMC) approved institutes or regulatory bodies.
  4. Private colleges affiliated with a state university or recognised central university.
  5. Diploma institutes recognised by state and union territories.
  6. Autonomous colleges state and central universities recognised by the University Grant Commission (UGC).
