About the Wise Scope Fellowship Scheme Empowering Women 2024

The Department of Science and Technology of the WISE SCOPE Fellowship program has started this scheme to provide solid opportunities to all Technologists and Women Scientists. Those who have completed their PhD and further want to showcase their expertise and S&T knowledge can apply. This project proposal includes techniques with the possibility of lab-to-land transfer, development of viable technology, and adaptation and scaling up for the betterment of society. These social challenges also involve factors related to societal issues on a large scale.

Areas of Study

Women scientists can compete in the areas of study like:

  • Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development (ECSD)
  • Health, Food and Nutrition (HFN)
  • Energy, Water and Waste Management (EWWM)
  • Agriculture and Allied Sciences (AAS)
  • Engineering and Technology Development (ETD)

Benefits of the Scheme

All the selected women fellowship participants will get the following benefits per month:

  1. Rs 55000/- and HRA(as per norms) per month
  2. Field Demonstration, etc., of Rs. 1.0 Lakh
  3. Small equipment costs range up to Rs. 2.0 Lakh.
  4. Research Grant of Rs. 2.0 Lakh per year

All this will be along with the institutional overhead charges as stated by the DST norms and conditions. The tenure of the project will be three years.

Eligibility Critera for applying to the Wise Scope Fellowship Scheme Empowering Women 2024

Below are the eligibility criteria that one needs to follow before applying to the scheme. The selection process will depend on eligibility criteria.

  1. The minimum age of the candidate applying must be at least 27 years.
  2. The maximum age must not be more than 60 years as of the date of form submission.
  3. Candidates who are full-time employed aren’t eligible.
  4. The position will be considered as a temporary assignment in any of the projects as a Research Associate or post-doctoral fellowship.
  5. Women scientists temporarily employed in the academics and research areas can apply provided they leave the job before applying to WISE-SCOPE.

Here is a list of a few mandatory documents that are required to fill out the online application form. It is as follows:

  1. Consent Letter from Mentor (pdf max 800kb).
  2. HRA declaration certificate (pdf max 800kb).
  3. Complete Project Proposal (PDF and Word, both max 5 MB each)
  4. Policy Document of Conflict of Interest (pdf size: 800kb).
  5. Highest Degree Certificate (pdf 800kb)
  6. Endorsement from Head of the Institute (pdf max 800kb)
  7. CV of Mentor (pdf max 500KB).
  8. Date of Birth Proof (pdf max 800kb).
  9. Undertaking (pdf max 800kb).

Note: If any incomplete proposal is submitted in an unprescribed format, it will be rejected. The names of the selected and successful candidates are to be available on the official website.

Selection Process of the Candidate

The selection criteria of the eligible candidate will be based on preliminary screening of eligibility. Other processes, such as the Applicant’s credentials, identified societal challenges, Scientific methodology proposed and expected beneficiary on the grounds of the results of the project. Moreover, the final selection will be based on recommendations of the Subject Expert Committees (SECs). Financial and administrative approvals will make the final decision for DST.

The candidates can apply through the proposal submission under WISE-SCOPE at ePMS (https://onlinedst.gov.in). For the format, kindly refer to https://onlinedst.gov.in and https://dst.gov.in.

  • After doing this, log in to https://onlinedst.gov.in/
  • Go to the homepage of “DST e-PMS Portal”.
  • Kindly read the instructions on the DST website.
  • Download the proposal form.
  • Fill out the details on the form.
  • Keep relevant documents ready to upload in a Word file of max. size 5Mb.
  • Press “New PI Registration”.
  • Fill details for new registration.
  • Fill in the Institute, Department name and address according to the host institute affiliated with the WISE-SCOPE Fellowship project.
  • In the designation section, fill it out as ‘WISE-SCOPE Fellow’.
  • Scroll through the “Submit” proposals” link.
  • Here, you will be asked for a few pieces of information, such as the principal investigator, suggested referees, general information, mentor details, PFMS details, ongoing project details, and financial details.
  • After filling out all the forms, click on the “Preview” button.
  • Check all the details carefully.
  • Press on the Submit Button.
